We’ve completely updated and enhanced the way that holidays work on Turbine. This adds some cool new capabilities. For example:

  • Choice of annual or monthly accruals. In other words, does an employee get all their holiday allowance at the beginning of the holiday year or in monthly instalments. (See Settings/Time Off.)

  • Individual holiday settings. Account owners can create individual time off settings for employees, so you can override company-wide settings to give individual employees their own allowance, borrowing, holiday year and so on. This is great, say, for people who work part-time or who have accrued extra holiday allowances. (See Employees / [Employee name] and click ‘Edit individual time off settings.)

  • Set individual holiday allowances when adding new employees. If you sign up for Turbine in the middle of the holiday year, people may have already taken some holiday. This setting allows you to set an ‘available holiday’ allowance for new employees and also to set their company joining date . This was the most requested new feature from users. (Go to Employees and click Add someone new.)

  • The ability to add holidays in the past. Sounds odd, doesn’t it. But if you join Turbine in the middle of the year, you may want to use it to record holidays already taken by an employee during the year so this modification allows employees and admins to create time off requests in the past and the system automagically approves them.

Also, in this release we’ve fixed some bugs and added some minor features.

  • fixed error, preventing users with long emails to log in
  • fixed error, sending reminders about already approved holidays
  • allowed spaces in cost field
  • allow floating point cost for expense items
  • prevented users from selecting non-usd payment currencies when providing American Express credit card
  • fixed some email template errors
  • fixed some layout errors
  • fixed some typos
  • added employee status (invited, discharged) on employee profile page
  • fixed error, allowing to use purchases with purchase module disabled
  • removed address from signup. signup collapsed to one step
  • removed progress bar from employee profile page
