Best of the web on bring your own device (BYOD)

Bring your own device, or BYOD, is no longer a new trend, but it still presents plenty of kinks for companies to iron out. Here’s a look at what’s what.

BYOD: Bring your own device to work – people working at a desk

Bring your own device (BYOD) is a trend with a lot of talk attached.  Thanks to the cloud, we’re working with an increasingly mobile workforce.

Personal devices walk into work with employees. Sometimes, work migrates to an employee’s phone, tablet or computer. Ultimately, your personal device is just part of the big picture.

There’s quite a bit of chatter about the pros, cons and the in between. Some employers are implementing a BYOD policy, which comes with its own questions and concerns.

It’s not all about the hardware, some are advocating ‘bring your own application.’ Other companies have chosen to let employees ‘choose your own device.’

BYOD raises some questions about ownership and security and it depends on your perspective as to who is reaping the benefits. Either way, BYOD definitely has the potential to benefit a business.
